Thursday 16 March 2017
Aboard a low-emissions catamaran at twilight, more than 80 philanthropists joined marine luminaries and adventurers to learn about the challenges facing our harbours and oceans. We enjoyed rousing presentations from author and environmentalist Tim Winton and award-winning scientist Professor Emma Johnston (pictured with CEO Amanda Martin).
Later in the evening, AEGN members shared four fabulous marine projects for which they are seeking additional funding. Review the funding proposals for the following projects:
Toward a Sydney Marine Park (Presented by Robin Tedder)
– Nature Conservation Council of NSW
– Australian Marine Conservation Society
Operation Crayweed + Sustainable Seawalls (Presented by Alec Brennan)
– Sydney Institute of Marine Science
Marine Plastic Pollution Campaign (Presented by Rob Purves)
– Boomerang Alliance
– Purves Environmental Fund
Please contact Ruth Johnstone for more information about the following project:
Blue: A film about the hidden crisis lapping on our shores (Presented by Ruth Johnstone)
– Good Pitch / Shark Island Productions
Our members will be sharing more details about their projects shortly via email and the clearinghouse.
